Sermon 8 in our Doctrinal Foundations sermon series. In this sermon, anchored in Acts 1:6-11, Pastor Matt talks Eschatology, or what we believe about the end of the human history. There are a lot of things about eschatology that are not plain, and we're not going to be closed-handed about those things. But we will be closed handed about the main thing - the physical, literal return of Jesus Christ to fully restore His kingdom.

In this sermon from John 3:22-30, Pastor Matt says that true humility is a distinctly Christian virtue. After defining humility, we see five characteristics of humility from the example of John the Baptist in this passage. This culminates in the truth that the Christian has no greater calling than John the Baptist's calling, to make much of Jesus Christ during our short tenure on earth.

Pastor Matt preaches through John 3:16-21, which shows us the depth and character of God’s love and how and why we respond to that love. For all of its universality, it is very particular. God has given the entire world only one way of salvation. There are only two responses to God’s love. There is only one reason behind each of those responses. Each one of those responses has only one eternal outcome. In short, God’s love, the human condition, and the way of salvation are all right here in John 3:16-21.
